The Scuba Professor is committed to making scubaprofessor.com usable by as many people as possible, including people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or voice control.

Conformance target

This site aims to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.

Current status: partially conformant. Parts of the site meet the standard and parts have not yet been fully tested or remediated. Known gaps are listed below.

What has been done

  • Text and background colors checked for contrast against the AA threshold
  • Headings structured in a logical order, with one H1 per page
  • Descriptive alternative text on images that convey meaning
  • Form fields labeled and associated with their inputs
  • Keyboard navigation supported, with a visible focus indicator
  • Video content, where used, provided with captions
  • Page layout tested at 200 percent zoom


Known limitations

Being honest about gaps is more useful than claiming none exist. At present:

  • Third-party embeds, including the reviews widget and any calendar or booking tool, are not fully under this site's control and may not meet AA
  • Some older photographs may lack detailed alternative text
  • PDF documents linked from this site, including training agency materials, are produced by third parties and may not be fully accessible

If you need information from any of these in an accessible format, ask and it will be provided another way.

Accessibility of training

Website accessibility and in-water accessibility are separate questions.

If you have a disability, a medical condition, or a physical limitation and want to know whether training can be adapted for you, call and ask directly. Some conditions require physician clearance before diving, and some can be accommodated with adapted technique or equipment.


Assistive technology

This site is intended to work with current versions of common assistive technologies, including screen readers on desktop and mobile, browser zoom, and speech input.

No accessibility overlay or plugin is used. Overlays do not reliably fix underlying accessibility problems, and the intention here is to fix the site itself.
