The nitrox course has a reputation for being a formality: watch a video, take a quiz, get a sticker. That reputation exists because a lot of divers finish it able to recite a number without being able to explain what the number is protecting them from.

What Makes This Nitrox Course Worth Taking
Physics Explained
Most nitrox courses hand you a formula. This one explains where the formula comes from, which is the difference between memorizing and knowing.
Hands-On Analysis
You will handle the analyzer yourself, on a real fill, until reading and logging a mix takes under a minute and produces a number you would stake a dive on.
Maximum Operating Depth
Every mix has a floor you do not go below. Working out that depth for yourself, before the dive, is the single safety habit this certification exists to build.
Computer Setup
Setting a dive computer for enriched air: done wrong, the gas gives you no benefit and a false sense of margin.
No Prerequisite Depth Rating
Open Water divers can take this now. There is no reason to wait, because the advantage applies to the exact dives you are already doing.

Is Nitrox Actually Safer?
It reduces nitrogen loading, which lowers decompression stress on a given profile. It also introduces an oxygen limit that air does not have. Safer depends entirely on whether you were trained properly.
Can't I Just Learn This Online in an Hour?
You can pass a quiz that way. Analyzing a cylinder, rejecting a bad fill, and setting a computer correctly are physical skills, and none of them get practiced by clicking through slides.
Do I Need Advanced Certification First?
No. Open Water divers can certify for enriched air immediately, and most should, because the benefit applies to shallow recreational dives too.
What Does the Nitrox Course Cost?
Cost depends on whether you add training dives, site fees, and whether you train alone or with others. Call and I'll give you the number for your version.
Will Every Dive Shop Fill Nitrox for Me?
