Certified Is Not the Same as Capable

You booked a course, passed the test, and got the card. Then you sat on the boat before your first real dive and realized you were not sure what half your equipment actually did.

Most courses are built to the minimum standard, because the minimum is what gets a class through in a weekend. You are left with permission to dive and not much practice at it.

Your first certification should feel
earned, practiced, and steady, not rushed to a deadline.

I'm Wade Howell, and I'm Here to Make You a Diver

I have watched people finish a course and still hold their breath on the descent, still fumble the inflator, still count on someone else to fix a problem. That is not a failure of the student. It is what happens when a course is treated as a deadline instead of a skill.

I have been diving since 1991, served as a Navy hospital corpsman, hold a Ph.D., and spent more than twenty years teaching. I am an IDEA Course Director, the highest rank in recreational scuba. I teach one student or one family at a time, in the springs, until the skills are
automatic, repeatable, and yours.

You bring the willingness. I'll bring the standard.

A Certification You Can Actually Dive On

Open Water Diver course

Time Instead of a Timeline

Training built around your schedule so you can repeat a skill until it sticks, which means you leave practiced rather than merely passed.

Safe Scuba Diver Program - four divers in formation

Water You Can See Through

Open water dives in Florida's springs so you can learn in 72-degree water with real visibility, which means your first dives build calm instead of anxiety.

Divemaster course

One Instructor, Start to Finish

The same instructor through every session so you can stop re-explaining yourself to a rotating staff, which means your training stays consistent, personal, and accountable.

How It Works

Tell Me Your Situation

We talk through your schedule, your comfort in water, and your goals so you can start where you actually are.

Get Your Training Plan

I build the academics, pool sessions, and dive days around your calendar so you can train without rearranging your life.

Dive the Springs

Your open water dives happen at real sites in real conditions so you can finish as a diver.

What Makes This Certification Different

A teacher first

Private Instruction

Anyone can put six students in a pool and watch. Teaching one person until the skill is automatic takes time, and that is the part most courses skip.

Navy trained

Ten Training Springs

Your first dives happen somewhere worth remembering. Devil's Den, Blue Grotto, Ginnie Springs, Rainbow River, and six more North Florida springs, all 72 degrees and clear year-round.

Academics Your Way

Online, in person, or split between the two: the classroom portion fits your week instead of fighting it.

Skills Practiced to Automatic

Most courses run a skill twice and move on. Every skill here gets repeated until you stop having to think about it, so stress does not undo your training.

Equipment You Understand

You will receive hands-on time with every component you are breathing through so you can service, assemble, and troubleshoot it yourself, which means gear stops being something you simply trust and hope.

Travel Instruction

Training that comes to you. I travel throughout North Florida, and if you are visiting we can start academics before you arrive so the water time is all that is left.

A teacher first

Family and Group Training

Certify together. A family or small group trains as one unit, at one pace, and nobody gets left behind.

A Real Instructor Record

Your instructor is an IDEA Course Director and SEI Instructor Trainer, not a seasonal hire working through a script. The credentials are verifiable and current.

A Path That Continues

You stop having to find a new instructor at every level. The same training path runs from your first breath through Advanced, Rescue, and professional certification, until you have gone as far as you want to.
